LET’S ACT ON INCLUSION
The Erasmus+ KA152 youth exchange in Ovar, Portugal, brought together participants from six EU countries to explore the mechanisms of social inclusion and to enhance their knowledge, competencies, and skills through a variety of non-formal education methods and activities. Over the course of eight days filled with interactive sessions, the participants had the opportunity to meet new friends, establish international contacts, and develop collaborations and lasting friendships. They also gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by young people with fewer opportunities, including those experiencing discrimination, racism, and hate speech.
Throughout the cooperation process, 24 young participants with fewer opportunities from six EU countries took part, all of whom previously had limited chances for active social participation. Their involvement in the exchange helped promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and mutual respect among diverse groups of young people. During the project, participants designed and implemented methods aimed at raising public awareness about discrimination and social exclusion. These methods were further developed and disseminated through a series of FOLLOW-UP activities, the creation of an online campaign, and the promotion of motivational messages advocating for equality, respect, and understanding among youth from different backgrounds and experiences.
By actively engaging in the process of creating digital content focused on combating discrimination, the participants significantly improved their digital competencies and gained valuable IT-related experiences and skills. The project not only strengthened their capacity to use digital tools for social change but also empowered them to become advocates of inclusion and diversity in their local communities. Through shared experiences, teamwork, and creative collaboration, the Erasmus+ KA152 youth exchange in Ovar successfully fostered intercultural learning, empathy, and active citizenship, leaving a meaningful impact on both the participants and the communities they represented.
